Introduction

The three-phase separator is a device used to separate the three phases of oil, gas and water in formation fluids on the ground and accurately measure their production. This equipment is mainly divided into three types: vertical, horizontal and spherical. Among them, horizontal separators are more common because their structure is easy to transport and operate.

When the formation fluid enters the three-phase separator, it first enters the inlet splitter. The main function of this part of the structure is to enable preliminary separation of liquid and gas. Next, the gas carrying a large number of droplets will pass through the coalescing plate. At this part, the gas will be separated again, and then it will pass through the defoamer and demister. This step is to purify the gas. After the purification is completed, the dry gas bin will be discharged from the air outlet. Of course, in order to maintain the pressure in the container, a gas control valve will be installed on the exhaust pipeline, so that the pressure can be kept stable by controlling the amount of gas discharged.
 
Free water will sink to the bottom of the container due to gravity. Due to the density difference between water and oil, the oil will float on the water. After the oil reaches a certain height, it will enter the oil chamber through the oil-water baffle. The float-type liquid level regulator controls the discharge of crude oil by operating the oil drain valve, so that the oil level can be stably controlled. The separated free water is discharged through the drain valve controlled by the oil-water interface regulator to maintain the stability of the oil-water interface.
